Alkalize Your Body

Body pH and Cellular Toxicity

In order to understand how to alkalize the body, it is necessary to explain a number of facts about our physiology. It is known that the pH of the blood is maintained, rather closely, between 7.35 and 7.45. This is done by a complex mechanism related to the CO2 content produced, from the cellular operations performed, as energy is generated from the consumption of food. This narrow range of blood pH is so important that Nature has provided for a number of pathways to maintaining it. Grave consequences, soon resulting in death, will develop when the pH of the blood falls outside this range. The pH of the lymph, in which all our organs bathe, will be about the same as the pH of the blood, in the ideal environment.  This is what is commonly known as the body pH.

One pathway, for regulating the body pH, is via one of the most powerful mineral buffers, the amphoteric bicarbonate ion HCO3 -.  This ion reacts with substances that have either too high a pH (too alkaline) or too low a pH (too acidic).  However, this ion is severely lacking in our modern nutrition.  As a consequence, the body pH can fluctuate much more than desirable, for our well-being.  Here, we note that ancient mountain spring water sources will often be high in calcium bicarbonate and magnesium bicarbonate. However, these bicarbonates are rather unstable and many people will use water softeners to remove the calcium and magnesium.

Another such pathway, for regulating the body pH, is the presence of trace minerals in the food chain. They range from magnesium on down to infinitesimal trace elements, as found in the ocean.  These are called the alkalizing trace minerals. Their absence leaves the body at the mercy of the various processes that drive the pH into dangerous, mostly acid regions.

Contemporary nutrition will often offer dishes that are high in protein and low in fats.  However, foods of animal origins are naturally high in both fats and proteins.  Modern processing has found ways to eliminate the fats from many animal food sources. This will often result in a diet that has metabolic residues that are quite acidic because of the consumption of protein for energy. Acidic residue foods are popular because of common dietary trends. In the absence of bicarbonate buffers and proper trace minerals, a stream of acid components will eventually overwhelm the kidneys and will begin to spill into the lymph. They will continue to accumulate over our lifetime, as they are often long molecules that attach themselves stubbornly to the various organs, including the skin layers. This is a common contributing factor to cellulite.

As earlier stated, the pH of the lymph should be in the range of 7-7.4, for a healthy individual.  However, the national average lymph pH of adults is 6.2.  This has very serious consequences for the immune system. This system uses the oxygen, in the lymph, to “burn” components foreign to the body, such as viruses, which are then eliminated by the kidneys.  When the lymph pH goes from 7.4 to 6.2, around 94% of the oxygen disappears from the lymph.  This amounts to saying that around 94% of the immune system power is now gone.  As a result, our average population is much more subject to cold and other viral infections.

It has been observed that when people are on their deathbed, from degenerative diseases, their lymph pH will touch 4.4 briefly before they expire.  At this point, 99.9% of the lymph oxygen is gone. Their immune system has stopped functioning, resulting in the body being overrun by acid-loving fungi, whose function is to recycle the dead cellular material, accelerating the decay of the now-dying body.

Sea-Alka involves two components that work together to maintain the pH of the body, or restore it rapidly, to the range of 7-7.4. The first such component is an organic compound composed of sugar and the bicarbonate ion.  The sugar will preserve the bicarbonate ion as it goes through the digestive system to be absorbed in the lower digestive tract.  Once absorbed into the bloodstream, the sugar part will help the bicarbonate ion penetrate into the cells to restore their pH to the optimum region.  The second component consists of a complete range of ocean trace minerals, covering the full range from the most abundant (magnesium) to the infinitesimal.  They, too, will be transported (as water-chelated minerals) into the bloodstream and into the cells, further contributing to stabilizing the pH, into the optimum range.

Because of the presence of the organic buffering effects, of the sugar, it becomes possible to produce a supplement that will be many thousands of times more capable of raising the pH of the body, or maintaining it in the optimum range, than would otherwise be possible.  Yet, the amount of sugar involved in a normal serving, of about ¼ tsp, is around 1 gram. This is negligible compared to the usual 300 grams of carbohydrates per day that are consumed, in some diet plans.

Although water is not the main component of Sea-Alka, its presence is important to facilitate the absorption of the components into the bloodstream.  The water in Sea-Alka has been treated with the Volixer technology, to reduce the cluster size, to the optimum range of around 6 water molecules, in a hexagonal cluster.  Such water clusters attach themselves to the sugars and the minerals and greatly facilitate the passage into the blood stream and then into the cells. This is the water chelation mechanism to which we refer.
